For those of you you who know me well, you know that some of my favorite things are good wine, philanthropy and of course the Napa Valley. On October 7, 2012 you can join me at Charles Krug Winery for the Napa Valley Wine Wave where we will combine all of those things while setting a Guinness Book of World Record for the longest relay wine toast…EVER… (insert popping corks)!
China currently holds the record with 321 participants in 2011. Continuing the Olympic spirit of bringing home more gold than China, the city of St Helena, Cheers St Helena, the Kiwanis Club and Appellation St Helena have partnered to bring together the wine loving public and wineries alike to match and set a new world record. What’s unique about this competition is that the Kiwanis Club of St Helena is donating all proceeds to scholarships for young people who have chosen to go into the core businesses that make Napa Valley so unique: agriculture, enology, viticulture, and hospitality.
So how can you get involved in the party? You can register as a participant for only $100 or come as a spectator for just $35 (all tax deductible!). In true Napa fashion, everyone in attendance will be able to enjoy the very best that wine country has to offer. Wine tastings provided by Appellation St Helena, savory bites from Armadillos Restaurant, Sorenson Catering and more. Live music and of course the gorgeous grounds of Charles Krug. And of course, I’ll be there with glass in hand to toast our way to a gold medal! BTW – everyone who participates will take home a medal if we set the world record!
